Fellowes Piano Program

The Fellowes Piano Program, established in the year 2008 and funded by the Athenaeum Trust Fund of the Boston Public Library, facilitates gratis music lessons to children from Roxbury, Massachusetts and it’s neighboring communities. For this work and his contributions to the educational scene in Boston, Carlos was the recipient of the Berklee Urban Service Award 2019.

Macondo Chamber players

Macondo Chamber Players (MCP) stands at the forefront of an exciting new generation in classical music. Founded in 2012 by violinist Jose Romero and pianist Carlos Vargas, MCP brings together established and emerging artists from Latin America and the world to perform chamber music, teach young people, and encourage international understanding.

Festival Esmeraldas

Founded in the year 2014 by the Ecuadorean Cellist Francisco Vila, Festival Esmeraldas is a full-tuition program that brings together some of today’s leading artists and gifted students from Latin America in a series of masterclasses, private lessons and performances. Carlos has been a faculty member since the inception of this project and for the past 2 years has served as the Director of the FIME Young Artist Program.
